I recently switched to the native Apple workouts app for my indoor and outdoor runs. I recently purchased the Apple Watch and realized that NRC was really only for my running workouts (duh) while I used the native Apple workouts app for cycling, rowing, etc.Īs much as I love NRC, it has a strong lock on your running data and doesn't allow any native exporting. During that time I used NRC and then RunGap to send the data out to Strava and Garmin Connect. I used to run with a Garmin watch and then switched to my phone for about a year. It's really one of the worst things an activity tracker can do. The two lost activities just annoy the F out of me. Everyone here think NRC is far and away the best? Honestly, I'm kinda leaning towards using Runkeeper or adidas Running at this point. I know this is an NRC sub but I thought I'd solicit folks' opinions. I'm not much for Strava Segments and the social aspect isn't that important to me so Strava immediately loses it's most impressive feature set.

Anyone here with thoughts on this experience? A couple times now the app on the phone says that the activity is still being tracked by NRC on the watch and, voila, the activity is lost. When my run is over, I end the run on the watch and it shows up in the app on the phone. To be specific, I like to use the watch without carrying the phone. Unfortunately, it's lost two of my runs during this recent ramp up.

I used to own a Garmin Forerunner and loved that thing until I got the Apple Watch. The big ones seem to be NRC (Nike), Runkeeper (ASICS), adidas Running (formerly Runtastic), MapMyRun and Strava. As I start to ramp up the mileage, I wanted to review the state of running apps to see where to log those miles. I'd used NRC a bit in the past (I used to own a Fuel Band and now own a Nike+ Apple Watch). So, after a couple injuries (and their requisite rehab), I am making a return to running.
